First off, we must warn you that The Saturos Canyon is… not for the faint of heart. Even with all the accommodations the TerranAlto Plateau (the capital of the region) is very isolated because of the geography and the immense size of the region. The climate in Saturos Canyon is hot, dry and it borders Epicent City, Cita Erbonde and Lochesh.
There are many ancient ruins in the canyon making it a haven for archeologists and researchers, and the famous Mars Lighthouse is to the south, near the border of Lochesh.
As for transportation, the safest way to get to and from the plateau is by bird Pokémon, small airplanes, or a helicopter. The climate, the rapids and the rugged terrain make walking, rock climbing and surfing next to impossible.
And ABSOLUTELY NO HANG-GLIDERS…… the look-outs already have had to save too many people who miscalculate their landings and they already have enough work to do, though I doubt anyone here could be as busy as me and my assistant… anyway…
As beautiful as the plateau is, it can be a very dangerous place if you let your guard down. The more aggressive Pokémon come out at night to hunt, they eat small Pokémon and have been known to attack people. Because of this, there will be men patrolling the area at night and the curfew is after sunset.
Leaving the Plateau at night is prohibited.
If you don’t abide by any of the cautions or rules listed here, not leaving the plateau at night should be the one you live by. Overconfidence can get you killed in Saturos, which is why when you come here you leave your ego at the door.
Now for the various landmarks:
There is also an annual Harvest Festival in the Fall, when everyone gathers on the summit of Harvest Hill. The festival begins with a special ceremony, followed by a huge feast and a potluck. Everyone brings something to contribute; we mix it together in a large pot and serve it to all the guests. The purpose of this festival is to celebrate the importance of community, to bless the coming fall harvest and pay our respects to the harvest god, Landorus , who is also our patron diety.
You’ll find that almost every monument here is based on the “Heaven/Earth Trio”. (known as the Kami Trio outside of the canyon) Tornadus, Thundurus and Landorus are all considered sacred to the Altonian people.
2. -- The West Wing of the plateau is the ‘Council of the Elders’ . Unfortunately this is a restricted area. You may walk the halls of the West Wing if you like, but we don’t allow contestants to enter the innermost part where the meetings are held. And you’re not missing much… trust me. You’d be very bored if you had to sit in on one of these meetings… >__>
3. -- The East Wing of the plateau is where you’ll be staying with other trainers. We assign two people to each room so that everyone has a roommate. You might not like it at first, but there’s a good reason behind why we came up with this arrangement, you’ll discover during your time here.
4. -- The Village where some of the Altonians live, some live inside the plateau, others outside. Contestants are welcome to come and visit the village and it’s where you’ll find me and my assistant most of the time.
My assistant will explain the other important buildings in town and amenities that we offer contestants.
If ancient ruins, nature and wide open spaces appeal to you, or if you live in the city and want a change of scenery, then you should consider choosing Saturos. We wish you all the best during the tournament, no matter which region you choose.
Tókhi wániphika ní! (Good Luck!)
