Greetings, contestants. I have received word from Saros' six elite trainers that, despite the ongoing weather conditions, the tournament will continue. In this time of uncertainty and fear, the tournament will be the foundation upon which our hope for the future rests. Please look to it as a beacon of normality as we do our best to find out the cause of our unusual weather activity!

This round will be an inter-faction double battle. What this means is, you will be paired with someone from another faction and face off against two trainers from the same factions. You will each be allowed to bring one Pokémon, for a total of four Pokémon participating. If you took the chance to catch a new Pokémon recently, this would be an excellent time to debut them. This round aims to test your abilities when handling an entirely new situation and skill set of a Pokémon- considering what we have planned for upcoming rounds, we think this will prepare you nicely!

The Faction pairings are as follows:

- Cita Erbonde will be paired with Ladon.

- Lochesh will be paired with Terran Alto.

- Corus will be paired with Moeras.

Contestant pairs ups have already been decided, and they can be seen here.

Contestants are asked to use their Omnidexes to find and communicate with their partners and opponents. You may choose to battle wherever you please- it does not have to be at a faction HQ!

The deadline for this round is 23th of February at 11:59pm PST. This means you have roughly one month and a half to complete this round. Good luck!

~Mirage

----

INFO:

- The artists can choose where to depict their battles. Partners do NOT have to have a comic that both follow exactly the same storyline. If you wish to, however, that is perfectly fine. Please be aware that the entry that has the highest score between the partners will be considered the "canon" entry- i.e., what actually happened during the battle story-wise.

- The winning contestant plus their partner will proceed to the next round. The losing team will be cut and will not advance.

- To have your entry considered complete, you must show your character and your partner's character battling and winning against the opposing team.

- This is not a collaboration round. You must all do your own entries!

- The weather conditions are as follows:

• Lochesh - howling winds with a thick, dark fog blanketing the region

• Cita Erbonde - devastating hurricanes with major flooding

• Moeras - a terrible blizzard with freezing temperatures

• Terran Alto - dangerous dust storms

• Corus - earthquakes of varying magnitudes that are causing rifts throughout the land

• Ladon - a threatening heatwave that's causing major damage to the environment.

hmm... I had a concern as to what may or may not be considered illegal use of an extra pokemon.
My character, Catori, is able to communicate with her natu Sihu telepathically, and only her natu. However, she will not be using Sihu in the battle.

In order to avoid getting dust in her mouth (she'll be battling in TerranAlto) Catori has decided to use Sihu as a sort of medium. Simply, she would tell Sihu to command the pokemon that is actually participating in the battle. Sihu would by no means execute an attack on the other team or anywhere, but be used solely as a psychic connection between trainer and pokemon. Almost like a telephone. If this is illegal then I can figure out something different, but I wanted to make sure something like this wouldn't get me disqualified before I started drawing it.

Although I suppose simply shouting the attacks while covering her mouth with a cloth would suffice. If it had to come to that.
Thanks in advance.

Oh man, this round is going to be really tough TvT but before I get into more of the planning I was wondering, if the characters are planning when and where to meet, how will the officials judge it? Will they also need to call a referee or faction assistant? Or is that up to the artist...

And thank you ahead of time :thanks:

Contestants are asked to use their Omnidexes to find and communicate with their partners and opponents.

May I ask how we should be doing that? I'm kind of at a loss as to how we should have our characters contacting people they don't really know, for the first time.
Thank you!

Mirage: Your Omnidex is a direct link to your faction leaders and the propagators of this tournament. Information on your opponent is sent directly to each contestant's Omnidex, including contact information. From there, you may call, text, email, or contact your opponent however you wish.

Once the weather situation is under control, scheduled matches are likely to be set up again. At that point, the information on your match and its location will be sent to your Omnidex the same way. In that scenario, you will simply meet at the described location at the designated time.

Apologies for the confusion, darling.

Epicent City has thus far been fortunate as far as the weather is concerned. With access open to Epicent now, it is advised that trainers and NPCs alike seek out shelter in the city at their discretion until the odd weather passes.

I feel so overwhelmed! A double battle awig;hs;fdsafdi;e. This should totally be fun to do, though! I'm looking forward to this.

Quick question regarding judging. Out of the four battlers, is it only the person with the highest score gets to move on along with their partner regardless of his/her score? Or is it more like the combined score of the pairs that determine who moves on?

A journal will be up within the week to explain how we grade things as well as insight on how this Round will be graded/judged.

A short version: The team with the highest score will pass onto Round 4.

Ahh alright! Thanks, I shall wait for it.

Oh, but another question. So we can choose any of the 6 Factions to fight in? It doesn't have to be our home Factions?

She responded to someone else's question that you can battle anywhere as long as it's in one of the two factions, so for you, anywhere in Terran Alto or Lochesh.

Holy dog, this is so intense. D: I've never seen a round like this before in an OCT, this is exciting!
I'm also interested in the same as the person before me, are we only allowed to bring one pokémon alltogether and leave the rest chilling somewhere or something?

Forgive me for just copy and pasting the response, but seeing how your question is the same, it makes sense to just copy and paste.

Your trainer may have their other Pokemon with them of course, just only one can be used in the battle. If the other Pokemon interfere in any way, it would mean an automatic disqualification.

Seeing that weather around the region is pretty nasty, having unnecessary Pokemon out may be a hazard. Unless that is what you are aiming for.

Wow, this certainly is exciting! I can tell this is going to be a fantastic round already and am looking forward to reading the future stories.

I'm a tad confused on one thing, however. The journal states, "You will each be allowed to bring one Pokémon, for a total of four Pokémon participating." I understand that only one pokemon form each contestant will be battling, but will they only have one pokemon near them? Like, say, the contestant would either (a) have only the participating pokemon nearby, or (b) the entire team could be with the contestant but not interfere with the battle.

I feel like I'm being annoying once again, so I apologize.

Oh wow, this is going to be intense. Aww yisss.

A few questions though, if I may:
How exactly is this round going to be judged? Will each comic be judged individually and then whoever has the highest score wins (and thus, their teammate passes as well)? Or are the points going to be totaled between the two teams, and the highest cumulative score wins?

Thanks for your help, guys!

I know I replied to your comment on the front page in regards to this, but I am going to put it here too so other people can see it without having to dig. So, apologies for the "double post".

Within the week, we shall be releasing a journal with an explanation on how we grade entries.

Ah, sorry, I didn't see the response to it. But I was actually asking about this round in particular; how is the winner determined in this round? I understand that we will be graded, but are the scores between ourselves and our partners going to be added up and compared to our opponent's scores, or will the round just be based on the highest score from an individual?
Reply
:iconmirzers:
mirzers Featured By Owner Jan 13, 2013  Professional General Artist
We will also be including a section on how this Round will be graded/judged in said journal.

For a quick response: the final score for the partners is the average score between both entries. Whichever team scores the highest, passes. If your partner doesn't submit anything and your team wins, then you, along with the opponent with the highest score, gets to pass (same bracket opponent). Though, seeing how it is Round Three, you all want to be here, so with any luck, it shouldn't come down to that. We won't penalize someone if their partner doesn't submit anything, but we cannot pass someone who didn't submit anything either. So, that's the fairest way to do it.

Sounds more than fair to me. I'm definitely going to submit an entry, so no worries there. Thanks for the clarification~

I have a few questions!

1.) For our battles, do we go to our home arena (ex. Corus participants go to their own stadium with their opponents) or does it really not matter which arena we go to as long as we battle?

2.) Silly question but does it matter the time of day or are all matches the same as the previous rounds and during the day time?

I think that's all for now but if I come up with anymore I'll post them or they might be answered for me haha.

1.) Contestants are asked to use their Omnidexes to find and communicate with their partners and opponents. You may choose to battle wherever you please- it does not have to be at a faction HQ!

You may battle where ever you choose, it just has to be in one of the two factions you and your partner belong to.

2.) It's all user preference. If you would rather have you and your partner's battle take place at night, all power to you!

[sorry for my bad english]
in the battle, the four Contestants have to do their entry in the same place (ex: ladon) and let's say i choose for my entry snivy, the other Contestants have to draw my character in their entry with my choose of pokemon? or they can choose any other of my pokemons while in my entry choose snivy?
Reply
:iconmirzers:
mirzers Featured By Owner Jan 13, 2013  Professional General Artist
They can choose which Pokemon to include. It does not need to be the same four Pokemon in all four entries. If you wish for your partner to depict your character with the same Pokemon you chose to have in your entry, then you should note your partner about it at this time.

The same goes for location. It's all up to you, the artist.
