ROUND ONE OF SIXFOLD LEAGUE NOW COMMENCES
This round will be treated like a qualifier. We want you to show us what you can do, but don't go absolutely all out right at the start! A certain number of contestants (depending on how many participate in this round) will move on to Round Two.
ROUND GOALS
In this round, your contestants will be having a ONE ON ONE BATTLE WITH YOUR FACTION'S ASSISTANT. You must show your character winning for your character to advance. Though the definition of "winning" is up to you! As long as it's clear (a draw would also be considered a victory). No switching Pokemon mid battle. You must pick one Pokemon and stick to it throughout the whole battle*.
*Note on the turn-based style fighting: it is like the games, but not exactly. Basically it just means taking turns, but you are more than welcome to mix it up as well. We won't penalize you for it.

Zulime will use any of her Pokemon.
Dalaigh will use any of his Pokemon.
Shawn will use Wilson, her Slowking.
Anariel will use Benassi, her Dragonite.
Gabriel will use either Eden (Zoroark) or Benedict (Chandelure).
Nina will use any of her Pokemon.None of the assistants will use their companions. For assistants with multiple options for what Pokemon they use, you get to choose which one you'll fight against.
Also, Cesar and Fraener will be for sure present to watch, and Ferrite, Kohana and Kassy may stop by later on.

In Corus: the hall at Arcelor In Cita Erbonde: the local stadium In Moeras: the Articuno Arena, in Olan In Terran Alto: the Nimbus Colosseum In Lochesh: Lochesh Battlefield In Ladon: the castle courtyard
*NOTE that only Lochesh and TA at this point have image references, but it's unlikely the others will get them. We're giving you the option of designing the battlefields as well. Artistic freedom! No need to worry about what we had in mind because we will not deduct your scores for this. If you would like some guidance, however, here is some additional information: This is copypasted from a reply in regards to the Arcelor hall: The Arcelor battle hall is essentially an old warehouse; there are bits of assembly line machines scattered around, rusting away, that can be used for cover. There are also boulders from the outside brought in for extra cover. But do feel free to improvise, you won't be penalised for it! Here is a reply to what the Cita Erbonde Colosseum is like. The Articuno Area's exterior is depicted in Moeras's greeting journal, however it's interior is up to you. It is similar to a regular arena, but feel free to add your own flare. The Nimbus Colosseum is also shown in Terran Alto's welcome journal.WHAT WILL BE LOOKED FOR THIS ROUND
First, the mediums--any kind of visual art that presents clear storytelling. Comics are the preference, but that doesn't mean comics are for sure to get a higher score--splash pages, flashes, you name it. Be careful with splash pages, though: although the story is in the text accompanying it, the images themselves should still work together, and just looking at them in order should convey the direction of your story.
As this is the first round, as well as a qualifier, or audition, we're looking to see each of your storytelling styles. Be creative! Show what you got! Our judging is based on effort and storytelling. So none of that "oh but my art isn't as good as everyone's; I'm not gonna make it past this round!". Not so! Effort means that we can clearly see you worked hard on your entry. So do not be down! Take this opportunity to show what you have!
YOU WILL HAVE A MONTH TO COMPLETE THIS ROUND. THEREFORE THE CURRENT DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 17TH AT 11:59PM PDT.
This is prone to extensions but do not count on that.
Event One for the NPCs will be out later this week.
